friday

Scott gets home in three days!!! Ahhhh!!!

I had two airport dreams. In one of them, he wouldn't hug me or speak to me. What the?! In the other one, he did give me a hug, but the first thing he said to me was "Wow, you're really chubby!" Haha.. yeah. Clearly I'm excited for him to come home. I told him about those dreams and his response was, "So I'm not allowed to call you fat?" We have a great relationship.

Stupid head.

Anyway.. he gets home Friday afternoon so we're going to spend the whole rest of the day with him and family. Then Saturday I'm doing a fun Easter shoot, and Sunday is his homecoming. Crrrazy! If you want to come, but don't have information yet, let me know and I'll send it your way. Needless to say, there will be a plethora of photos next week!

Here's what I'm working on editing right now...

Pretty steamy, I know. Hope you're all having a good week!

april sixth

I need to get better at this blogging thing. I always say that, right? Just trying to be consistent!

Erin came over today to let me take a couple of photos for her for my PR class. We're doing a group campaign on healthy lifestyles at BYU, and one of our topics is sleep. Turns out college students don't get enough. Who'd have thought, right? After we took these photos, we decided that they summed up our lives at present. One more week and classes are over for me. Finals are the week after that. And then I get a break.. not! Then I start school again. Ugh...

After chatting with my favorite Erin, and writing a paper, I ran over to school to work on said group campaign and then went to classes. I didn't get done until almost seven, and was so pleased to come out of class to sunlight. Not too long ago, I'd walk to my car in the dark. You can be cold all you want, Utah, but at least we get a little sun :)

And speaking of sun, I couldn't help but notice all the blossoms today.. despite the yucky weather. Good job, blossoms.. keep up the good work! So I stopped on my way to the car and took a photo. It was with my phone, so I had to get up really close to the tree.. I got some weird looks. But I think it turned out okay :)

love this

HEY YOU.

yes, you. stop being unhappy with yourself. you are perfect.
stop wishing you looked like someone else or wishing people
liked you as much as they like someone else. stop trying to get
attention from those who hurt you. stop hating your body, your
face, your personality, your quirks. love them. without those
things you wouldn't be you. and why would you want to be
anyone else? be confident with who you are. smile. it'll draw
people in. if anyone hates on you because you are happy with
yourself then you stick out your middle finger in the air and say
screw it. my happiness will not depend on others anymore.
i'm happy because i love who i am. i love my flaws. i love my
imperfections. they make me me. and 'me' is pretty amazing.

PS- I am not endorsing going around & flipping people off ;) But I still thought it was fun!

come what may, and love it

Today has been a rough days. Just one of those days where everything seems to go wrong, even though everything is really just fine. Thank goodness for the wise words of those who love us.

"'Come what may, and love it.'

"How can we love days that are filled with sorrow? We can't--at least not in the moment. I don't think my mother was suggesting that we suppress discouragement or deny the reality of pain. I don't think she was suggesting that we smother unpleasant truths beneath a cloak of pretended happiness. But I do believe that the way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life.

"If we approach adversities wisely, our hardest times can be times of greatest growth, which in turn can lead toward times of greatest happiness.

"Over the years I have learned a few things that have helped me through times of testing and trial. I would like to share them with you.

"1. Learn to Laugh: The next time you're tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable.

"2. Seek for the Eternal: Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our on-the-job training. These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others.

"3. The Principle of Compensation: That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude.

"4. Trust in the Father and the Son: The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to Him."

That will be my motto this week. I will come what may, and I will love it.

snowshoeing adventures

Nick and I did all manner of much needed relaxing over our three-day weekend. On Monday, though, we decided we'd been lazy enough and needed to go exert ourselves. Nick had been promising to take me snowshoeing for a while, so we finally went and I LOVED it! So much fun.

Much to my paranoia, we took the camera along.. and it managed just fine. Although we took TONS of photographs, so consider yourself warned :)

Nick getting the Camelbaks ready.. I love those things!

We got up there early enough that it was still really quiet and peaceful. And breathtakingly white...

Going down hills proved to be a little tricky...

For Jessica... see? He wears ALL his beanies like Peter Pan ;)

The snow was so high it reached the roof of a bathroom. Nick thought it would be buckets of fun to climb up and jump off. I thought it would be buckets of fun to record :)

flexibility

I'm sitting at BYU, doing some homework and waiting for a meeting with one of my professors, when I overhear a conversation two elderly men have as they walk past me...

"You have to be flexible when you work in this field."
"Oh, I'm flexible! Now if only I had flexibility of the limbs..."

:)

PS- Riding the bus is cool, even if I had to stand 'til we got to UVU. Today was my first day, and I'm already a huge fan of UTA. Probably more so once I don't have to pay for gas every week :)
