finishing up the thankful

oops! i just realized i never finished my thankful-ness and it's already december! d'oh! i promise, after this we will get to some major photo posts... none of this boring talking stuff! i just feel obligated...

19. i'm thankful for post-it notes. really, look...

20. i'm thankful for good food. really really thankful. food is delicious. and if it's not, it should be.

21. i'm thankful for awesome in-laws, who put up with me, include me, and do a good job of pretending to like me ;) i have awesome sisters, parents and the world's cutest nieces and nephews!

22. i'm thankful for these two. all the time.

heh heh...

23. i'm thankful for our jobs. all three of them. even if they mean we never get to see each other.

24. i'm thankful for MY family! (this isn't edited yet, but it's still hilarious... we're not very good at family photos). we're weird, and funny, and very very good looking.

25. i'm thankful for tums, sprite, jell-o and disney movies. nick and i spent a lot of last week being sick, and it would have been less enjoyable without those things.

26. i'm thankful for the tv show once upon a time. i've never followed a tv series, but i love this one :) and i'm thankful for big bang theory, because it makes me laugh all the time.

27. i'm thankful for my amazing friends. i have a small handful of best friends who i know would stop whatever they were doing to help us or do something for us. that's not very common, and i'm so grateful to have that in my life.

28. i'm thankful for service. i love being able to NOT think about myself sometimes, since i think about myself so often ;) i'm thankful for the ability to sometimes make people smile.

29. i'm thankful for an almost-house, that i love.

30. i think i already said i'm thankful for nick, but i'm thankful for him again. i'm thankful that, after working 18 hours monday, from noon to 2 a.m. on tuesday, and then driving to st george yesterday and working until 4 a.m., i haven't heard a word of complaint from him. i'm thankful that he does so much for me, and still wants to do more. i'm thankful that he laughs at my jokes, plays zelda with me, reads harry potter with me, takes photographs with me, and holds my hand.

ta da! sappiness over :) i'll post more photos and stuff later this week. hope you all had a great thanksgiving and are staying put in these crazy wind storms!

thankful 1-8

i've decided to jump on the bandwagon (or maybe i'm just bored) and write down what i'm thankful for every day this month. that's what thanksgiving's about, right? i keep getting chastised for wanting to celebrate christmas, so i'm doing my best to remain in the "thanksgiving spirit" :)

here's my list thus far!

1. i'm thankful for cell phones (you thought i was going to say something sweet like "my husband", huh?). anyone who knows me knows that i HATE to talk on the phone. to almost everyone. it's nothing personal, i just don't like it. however, with nick out of town every week, i'm on my cell phone 24/7 and i'm glad we have them :)

2. i'm thankful for my planner. it's where my brain is. i don't know what would happen if i ever lost it... something bad.

3. i'm thankful for good people. is it just me, or do rotten people that cross your path just make you that much more grateful for the good ones? even little things like a rude comment. i'm so grateful that there are so many good and kind people, a midst the sucky ones.

4. i'm thankful for my glasses. i'm on the computer for eight hours at work, and then i come home and edit. they've saved me from many a migraine and i love them dearly :) hopefully they're maintaining my 20/20 vision.

5. i'm thankful for a good husband (yup, there it is) who does amazing things for me on a consistent basis, and on top of it all, works his butt off to provide for our family. he never complains or gripes about what he has to do, he just gets it done and then comes home and does more. i want to be more like nick when i grow up :)

6. i'm thankful for mexican food. only because i'm meeting some friends in a little bit to eat it and it sounds REALLY good. it's true.

7. i'm thankful for the people i work with. most of them ;) they make my days at work so much more fun. especially julie, who keeps me sane. i work with great people!

8. i'm thankful for the ability to be thankful. that sounds cheesy. but i know that i could find things to complain about... and i sometimes do. i'm thankful for the ability to not dwell on those things, but to remember what i do have and may someday have. i don't think everyone can do that, and i'm glad i can.

our house

oh man, i can't believe in a few weeks we will be in a house. we're unbelievably excited and it still seems unreal that we can afford to live in a house, and that we got our dream house.

eventually we'll be posting our own photos. it's a super nice house, but there are so many little project we want to do (we walked through the house today with a measuring tape and a notepad). especially nick, who already has dreams of how he wants everything wired and such :) it's a fun house.

we'll let everyone know when the moving day is, for those of you that want to help. after that we're going to have an official cookie bake to break the place in... and all of you are welcome over any time in between :) for those of you that haven't seen it yet or won't for a little while, here are the photos that were on the website. i think they do the house justice. the only thing we were surprised about was the backyard.. it's much bigger than we thought, and it has a cute wooden playhouse :)

like i said, we're smitten with this house. here are some photos! (you can click on them to make them bigger, i'm too lazy to change them all.)

us

so it's been a while since i posted... here are some updates:

we put an offer in on a house, but we haven't heard anything back yet. we hate short sales. this is our dream house, though.. we're trying not to get our hopes up.

we're on a healthy food/workout kick.. hopefully it lasts :)

we are both loving our jobs but exhausted by the time the weekend rolls around. sleeping in is anything past 5 now. sad...

we're totally in love with each other and do fun things like take webcam photos late at night (and by late i mean ten.. because that's late for us).

that's all for now, folks! i'll try to update this more often.

(thank you for being our friends/family after seeing these. there should have been a video showing our reactions. we'd take about five, then look at them, then laugh til we cried, then do it again. we think we're much more funny than we actually are.. i like it that way)

i'm gonna go crash

before you think i have a sick sense of humor, i titled the blog post that because after all was said and done, nick said, "alright, let's go crash!".. as in, take a nap. haha. not using that phrase anymore!

soooo.. i crashed the car today. it was kind of exciting. i feel weird now, because i've felt a whole bunch of emotions, so now i feel.. drained? i decided to write a little bit about it.. mostly because nick's making me stay in bed for a little while (rude, huh?) ;)

he is getting me cafe rio, though, so he is forgiven.

what's the worst is that where i crashed is not where i was supposed to be.. does that make sense? i was driving to work and realized i needed to take something to the post office. so instead of going all the way down 8th north to get to work, i turned onto state and went down to center so i could drop off my letters. as i turned right, my stuff started to slide off the passenger seat, so i looked down and caught it all with my arm. literally just two seconds. i looked back up in time to hit the back of another car.

i didn't have time to hit the brake or swerve, just hit. i braced my body and the airbag went off. scariest thing ever, no joke. i hate the airbag. had it not gone off, my arm wouldn't be burned, i would be as bruised, and our car wouldn't have to get inspected to decide whether or not it's "totalled" (it's not, by the way, but they still have to inspect it).

so it hit. everything was smoking. the airbag, the engine.. totally freaked me out. i got out of the car and some super sweet black ladies came running out of the mcdonalds to take care of me, haha. they were adorable, and seriously the nicest women ever. they hugged me while i broke down crying, gave me their phones to call nick, and pushed my car into the parking lot for me. their little boy even offered me the rest of his food, haha. so sweet.

in all honesty, everyone was SO nice. i was overwhelmed by how nice they were. the guy i hit, he had gotten into some sort of road rage battle with another guy, and when they turned onto center, the guy cut him off and slammed on his brakes. resulting in me crashing. the guy who caused it then made a u-turn and flipped us off, laughing. jerk. seriously. big, mean, jerk.

the guy i hit was my age, super nice. a million policemen, an ambulance, and a firetruck showed up. haha, overkill? i realized later that center street is where all that is. but they took care of the burn on my arm, telling me how impressive it looked and that they'd never seen one like that. the policemen were awesome, asking if i was okay. if i hadn't been so shaky and emotional, i probably would have made sure to tell them that they're wonderful :)

nick got to come down from salt lake and save me. i was totally calm until i talked to him and my parents, and then i broke down, haha. they have that effect, you know? the only bummer is that since the airbag went off, the car might be considered "total loss".. which would suck. they towed it to our house (thank you, geico) and at some point an inspector will come out to make the decision. it's really not bad.. the hood and bumper are dented and the airbag went off. oh, and the coolant leaked all over the place. still driveable.. kind of :)

so that's my exciting story for the day. luckily we live with an er doc, so dad hooked me up with some good antiseptic ointment (or something like that), bandaged me up, and gave me drugs. mmm! and now i'm being spoiled, and we get the day off work.. ta da! had i known it would be that easy to get a day off...

here's a photo. it looks cooler in person, and my arms are turning purple from the bruises. i love adrenaline, i felt so good up until a couple of hours ago. now i have icepacks all over & i feel like an old person.

it's a phone photo, so it's not the best quality. what a shame, huh? ;) i told scott i just colored it with marker to make it look worse.

welp, nick's here with cafe rio salad.. bless his heart! so long!
