day 5
A photo of somewhere we've been...
This last summer, for our one year anniversary, we went on a weeklong west coast road trip, making stops in Portland, Tillamook, Sacramento, San Francisco, Monterey and Santa Cruz. It was hands down the best trip we've ever been on together... it was so fun to spend all that time together while we drove... talking and laughing and reading. It was wonderful :)

Yeah, pretty sure these two are our BEST friends ever. (I know these are dumb photos.. they were taken a loooong time ago, hence the random text on them). But yeah... for some reason Heidi and I get asked alllll the time if we're sisters. And Nick and Garn... they love each other :) We're with them at least once a week. Love you guys!

Our blog name... twoskinnypeople.blogspot.com.
This one is complex.. so stay with me. There are two of us. We're skinny (one of us is getting a little more chubby.. ahem..). And we're people.
Originally I was planning on posting a lot of recipes and cooking, but I never manage to take photos of them or take the time to post them. However, tonight I'm baking these, this and these... delish!

day 1
1. We're really really ridiculously good looking.
2. We just finished watching Cool Runnings... now we're watching 9.
3. We're also playing Heroes III.
4. We're also doing laundry and cleaning the house (these are interesting facts, right?)
5. Our eyes change colors.
6. The first thing Nick noticed about me was my eyes. The first thing I noticed about him was his smile.
7. We like each other A LOT. For keeps.
8. We have incredibly cool family members. They make us laugh all the time.
9. Nick always has projects. He's always taking things apart and fixing things and altering them. He's my hero.
10. I'm always cooking things. Soon our blog name will change from "twoskinnypeople" to "twochubbybut wellfedpeople".. so it goes.
11. We both go to school and work. Nick will be done with school (at least for now) in a year and a half. I'll be done in a little over two years.
12. I make messes and Nick cleans them. He says that's not true. He's also very modest.
13. We're photographers. Hard core. This is our first year of doing weddings. By next month we will have done five. We're kind of a big deal. (Not really, but that's what we're telling people)
14. We like to read together. We just finished Mockingjay (epic fail). We've read all three of them together and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Next we're reading Ender's Game.
15. Nick told me today that we're geeks, not nerds. Being a nerd is offensive.. but being a geek.. well, that's pretty cool.

happy news!
This won't be the most visual post.. and things might sound jumbled or weird because I'm on drugs right now (though that could make things more fun, huh?), but this is still a verrry happy post!
1. I got the job! Yay! I have to wait a week for the background check to go through (which is good timing, because I couldn't work this week anyway), but I'm soooo excited to start working! The company seems really great, the pay is great, and I'm so excited to have something productive to do with ALL my time, instead of just some of it.
2. Nick got called to be the secretary of the Young Men's presidency. I'm losing an awesome primary teacher, but it's going to be such a great calling for him. He'll be great with those young men. He's not so excited for the paperwork involved, but it'll be good for him :)
3. I get to do a wedding today and the reception tomorrow, for my cousin.. congrats Steven & Tyese! And then bridals next week and another wedding in November.. my first one for someone I've never met. Look at me go!
On a not-so-happy note.. this has been a week of sickness. I feel like (when I'm not dying) I need to deep clean our entire apartment, because everything feels gross now. On Monday I had the stomach flu and Nick had a really bad cold. Tuesday and today he's gone to work, but yesterday I stayed home, still trying to keep everything down. Today, my stomach is much better.. but now I have Nick's sore throat and cold :) Yay! Hopefully taking photos of the wedding will keep me busy and I won't even notice I'm sick.. right? Right??
Anyway, that's what's going on with the Thurman's! :) Time to go back to bed...

cross your fingers
Okay, so I just went in for a job interview today. Keep in mind that after 50+ applications and resumes sent in the past two/three months.. this was my second interview. Yeah. Depressing.
Anyway, I've just started applying everywhere. Last week I got an e-mail from a guy at this mortgage company in American Fork who had received my resume and wanted to meet for an interview. I was stoked. I didn't hear back from him after that, though, so I kind of gave up on it and didn't think too much of it.
Wednesday, he e-mails me back and wonders if I'm still interested. Yes!! So we met this morning for an interview and oh man.. this job could not be more perfect for me. Seriously, my past two jobs could be bundled up into this job.. I am perfect for it! I told him that, in fact :) He seemed really happy with everything, and was jubilant with my graphic design and sales experience at the Daily Herald for two years.
Anyway.. he has two more interview today and two tomorrow. So I'm basically saying lots of little prayers that.. they all bomb their interviews! Haha, okay, not really, but I realllllly want this job and am going to pray like a crazy person that I get it. (Won't it be sad when my next blog post is to report I didn't get the job? haha.)
On a slightly happier note, look what I came home to last night (after school, a meeting at BYU, a photo shoot and relief society..)...
... on the table with candles, dinner on the stove, and a "chocolate overload" ice cream in the freezer. Yeah.. he's a keeper :)

PS- I sent a quick e-mail after the interview, just telling him I appreciated him taking the time to meet with me, I'm really impressed with their company, and look forward to hearing back from him about the job. He e-mailed me back minutes later and said, "I felt like your interview went really well. You have great qualifications, and a personality that fits what we’re looking for." Yayyyyyy... still not for sure, but it's sounding pretty good, right?? Here's hoping...
